First step...Healing

For one to move on, you must learn to heal yourself.

Easier said than done.

Today, I got word that I was up for evaluation whether I am already qualified to be permanent after seven months. Although I have yet to talk with the evaluator, I chance upon some of comments in the evaluation sheet.

Needless to say, I almost wanted to throw in the towel.

After going through a rough beginning last year, I thought I would never emerge from it. It was really painful that I wanted to drop the pen and close my notebook and never write again. But low and behold, here I am writing in this blog (and at the same time trying to finish a story before going to bed to get some sleep).

All through my life, writing has become a part of me. Aside from singing and dancing, it was the other activity I enjoyed so much, joining as a staff of the newspapers and the chance to write for a daily publication. I did that alright but it was short live after one big mistake I made.

So here I am now writing for a health magazine. I will not deny that I still have alot of goals to fulfill in my career. At this point I am looking to write for an international daily or maybe join an international news organization. But I know in order for me to reach that, I have to heal myself first from the events of last year.  For me to heal is to work hard and take things one day at a time.

New Year promise...Happiness and Inner Peace

So it's been a while since I have post anything. To be honest, I am not very keen about sharing my feelings online but rather writing it down on my journal (which coincidentally I also have to update).

In welcoming the New Year, alot of us make resolutions like staying healthy or being a good daughter to the family. Back then, I always make a resolution to cut done on sweets but in the end stopped doing it because I don't keep it anyway. But after going through an emotional and rollercoaster 2012, I made a promise to myself to be happy and find inner peace, something that i have not thought about at all. This is what I want to happen this year on top of pursuing my goal to go back to Korea.

Speaking of Korea, I am very happy to be still in touch with some of my good friends there. I already made a promise to comeback within the year so I am really working very hard. Hopefully in between June-October.

Mean time, I will just simply concentrate first on working and enroll in traditional Korean dance next week.

A personal blog

First things first...

I wasn't sure if it was worth doing a personal blog as to the blog I am doing for the Fierces. But I felt it was time to share my personal thoughts away from the Fierces blog and decided to create this. Anyway, let me start by sharing why I was hesitant to open a personal blog.

When I was in grade school, I was taught the beauty of writing in notebooks, journals and diaries. I still maintain a personal diary up to this date and this allows me to continue exploring the personal writing through strokes and design. For me, sharing my personal thoughts online was a bit worrisome because cyberbullying has been rampant nowadays and plagiarism as well. While I lift paragraphs and texts from various sources, I make sure to credit and acknowledge them. Anyhow, to share myself with the cyberworld would be opening the possibilities of harsh criticism which I have experienced in my job as a writer. I am a very emotional person and suffice to say, things follow.

Yet however, the cyberworld has also given me the possibilities of letting myself be known as one of many voices in a particular topic or issue. I want to share my thoughts of the places I have been, the food I have tried, the people I have met and adventures I have embarked on. If I am vocal on Facebook and Twitter, why should I not share myself through a blog. From here on, this space will show the world what I feel; happy, sad, frustration and even anger. Through this space, I will share with you my love for books, movies, music, culture, travels and even issues I am very vocal about. This space will become my therapy from the madness of a career in publishing and oh yes, did I mention that I am a huge fan of Korean Pop Music? Yes, I will be writing about my love for the Land of the Morning Calm, which I have learned to embrace when I stayed there for 3 weeks in 2011. This post is just the beginning and truly I am about to start chronicling my emotions and adventures.

Love lots,

Alexa
